Funeral services for Miss Blanche Patterson were held Monday afternoon at the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. J. C. Mitchell, pastor of the AME Church, officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Samuel Johnson sang "Precious Lord." She was accompanied by Miss Katherine Taylor. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Paul Mielke, Victor Powell, Russell Anderson, Van D. Tapp, Leslie Dean and Luther Rankin. Miss Patterson died Thursday in Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for one day, following an auto accident near Linton, Ind.

Miss Blanche M. Patterson, 80, 308 E. Franklin St., a business woman here for 44 years, died at 5 p.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital, a victim of a two-vehicle traffic accident Wednesday on Ind. 67 east of Linton in Greene County. The crash occurred when Miss Patterson's car skidded on the icy highway and collided with an approaching truck. Her car was totally wrecked. Miss Patterson suffered fractures of ribs and both legs in addition to other injuries. Her brother, Clinton H. Patterson of this city, went to Linton and accompanied her back to Crawfordsville Wednesday night. She had been en route to Jasper to visit a friend who was hospitalized there. A native of Crawfordsville, Miss Patterson was born Aug. 9, 1884 to George Frank and Sarah Belle Keene Patterson. She was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and Wilberforce University at Xenia, Ohio. Previously employed in Chicago, she was in business here since 1920 as a chiropodist and beautician with offices in the Ben Hur Building. She was a member and trustee of the AME Church, where she was pianist and also belonged to the Missionary Society. Her musical talent also included the cello. She was a member of and on the executive board of the local branch of the NAACP and had served the organization also as its vice president and as secretary. Surviving besides the brother are two aunts, Mrs. Lizzie Patterson of Indianapolis and Miss Grace Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Monday at Bright Funeral Home, with Rev. J. C. Mitchell, pastor of her church, officiating and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
